Getting ready to move

well after much ado about craploads of forms and endless signing of my name, we are moving... moving from midgie heaven that is south lake to the bliss and heaven of coode st!

it is crazy how many people want to take money off you when you move house, the bank wants their share, the government decides that there is a "stamp duty" of $27,000... what the hell kind of stamp is worth $27,000, the morgate broker takes a cut, the two real estate agents take a cut, the settlement agents take a cut too... it seems as if there is a whole industry built around buying houses, the morgate broker informed me that the stamp duty the government takes is a bigger source of income than income tax!

not only that but then i call up the phone people to get our phone line and DSL broadband ended here and hooked up at coode st, and they tell me it is going to cost $60 to hook the phone up there and $100 to hook the internet up there, this isnt creating new accounts or anything just moving the address of them... i asked what was involved in this $160 process. apparently it is REALLY hard to unplug a plug and replug somewhere else... that is the whole process... once again i feel somewhat like a schmuch getting taken for a ride... no wonder our telecommunications companies can afford to give golden handshakes to fired CEOs and managers of $5 million dollars!!

Oh well i might just go with a different company too cause they are pretty expensive and it turns out that i wont be able to get the same speedy internet connection that i have here. Currently i am getting real world speeds of 6-8 Mbps, gonna drop back to around 750kpbs.... arghhhh my eyes these goggles do nothing!!!!

Anyways all that to say that buying a house seems to be the cheap part, it is the moving process which is the expensive part!

Well that expensive part begins on Monday!
